Once moss takes hold, mechanical damage to the roof accelerates rapidly.

As the algae infestation grows the roof becomes blanketed in black algae, those areas are now absorbing heat vs reflecting it, causing the surface temperature of the roof to increase significantly. This radiant heat transfers directly into your attic space. During the summer months, your air conditioning system has to work much harder to combat this trapped heat, leading to noticeably higher energy bills.
5. The Cost of Ignoring It
